Big or small, September Dribbble Meetups were a hit

It was a great month of meetups this September and we’re excited to show you what some of our amazing hosts planned. Eight different countries hosted a total of 11 meetups this September with a total of about 600 attendees. At the larger scaled meetups, a variety of topics were covered like the future of UX design, making 3D design more accessible, and an overview of onboarding design. Other more casual meetups included fun interactive design activities and mingling. Big or small, these meetups seemed to be a big hit with each local design community.

Interested in attending a Dribbble Meetup? It’s not too late to join one near you in October in places like Kraków, New Hampshire, Hyderabad, Manchester, and more! No meetups happening near you? Maybe you’d like to host your own Dribbble Meetup and help grow the community in your area!

Karachi, Pakistan @ National Incubation Center

“It was the very first Dribbble Meetup in Karachi, Pakistan. We wanted to have a community of creative designers among us so we can progress towards better design and share quality knowledge among each other, and Dribbble provided us with the opportunity to organize the meetup. The topic of the meetup was “The Future of Experience Design” in Pakistan. During the meetup, the panel of notable speakers working in the local industry shed some light on the prospect of UX in Pakistan as well as how UX designers can design for future needs and what sort of training they should get.

“The meetup was very successful as we had people come in from different organizations and major companies in the city. There were professionals as well as students who attended the meetup and the feedback was really nice as they all wanted to have continuous meetups and expressed concern for the design community. The meetup was followed by healthy refreshments along with Dribbble swag.

Copenhagen, Denmark @ Falcon.io

“Organizing an annual Dribbble meetup in September is becoming a tradition at Iconfinder. For the third year in a row, the meetup gathered 150 design enthusiasts for two hours of talks, networking, job scouting and swag-hunting. Adeline Lee, Marciano Planque, Davey Heuser, and Matias Sondergaard from Framer, Intercom, and Rokoko gave talks on interactive design, design systems, and making 3D design more accessible. The audience had a chance to get a glimpse into the power behind the new Framer X, the design process at Intercom, and a live demo of a motion-tracking smart-suit built by Rokoko. Iconfinder would like to thank their sponsors for helping to make this happen: Sleeknote, Creuna, Trustpilot, Intercom, Cotter and Falcon.io. P.S. Most of them have open positions for designers!”

Mohali, India @ Ablysoft

“The first ever Dribbble Meetup we organized was a great success, with around nine people attending out of thirteen. We gathered the little design community in Mohali under one roof to chat, mingle, and network. We began with a round of introductions where everybody spoke about themselves and how Dribbble is helpful to them in their professions. Later, we did an activity where we handed out a piece of paper and pencil to the attendees and asked them to draw anything they would like, and then exchanged the sketches among attendees so that each one of them could come up with a refined piece of art in one week and post it on Dribbble. Once all of them submit the final output we will announce the winner on the basis of likes and voting. Overall the experience was great and hopefully we will organize another one soon.

Badung, Indonesia @ UNIKOM

“We were very excited to organize the second event for our Dribbble Meetup in Bandung. It was incredible! We were impressed by the creativity of the participants in joining the challenge of creating UXiD Conference 2018 Onboarding. They were also enthusiastic about learning materials like Introduction to Onboarding, Right Illustration for Onboarding, and Animation & Interaction for Onboarding. Thankfully we had three professional speakers who explained these topics profoundly. Eight participants out of forty-seven were selected to get recognition of their work based on a given criterion. What an unforgettable moment we had! It was a great success and we look forward to having the next event in the future!
