Biography
My roots in design go way back. My dad taught me impressionist painting when I was six, and as an artist-turned-designer-turned-general contractor, he roped me into every house project and taught me to always look for the solution. My mom, a sharp-eyed English buff, never let me get away with a rogue comma and instilled in me there’s no such thing as “trying”—only deciding and doing. The result? A headstrong, problem-solving, Peruvian-Italian-American, California-born-and-raised Latina designer (with an eye for copy) with a passion for social impact.
I love bright colors and a retro time-period aesthetic—but most of all, I’m drawn to design that’s intentional, that makes you feel something, and actually takes time to understand humans.
I have a BFA in Communication Design, taught design as an adjunct professor, and run my studio (Underdog Design). But mostly, I’m just here to make cool things..
