About this Service
Some of the best moments on a site are small: a hover state that ripples instead of just fading, a background that shifts with the cursor, a transition that feels like something instead of a cut. Those effects usually come from a shader, and most teams don't have anyone on staff who writes one.
This service delivers that piece on its own: custom GLSL, written for the specific effect you want, handed over as working code. Your developers drop it in, or we integrate it ourselves if that's easier.
In the Package:
Up to three custom shader effects (examples: a hover or reveal shader, a page or section transition, a generative or cursor-reactive background)
- GLSL source for each effect, vertex and fragment shaders, with uniforms documented
- A live demo page so you can see and test each effect before it ships
- Performance profiling across common browsers and a range of GPUs, including integrated graphics
- An integration guide for your developers, or hands-on integration by us if that's easier
- React Three Fiber and vanilla WebGL versions where the effect allows it, so it fits whatever stack you're on
Process & Communication:
Brief & Reference. We talk through the effect and confirm what "reactive" or "generative" means for this case.
Prototype. A working version in a live sandbox, so feedback lands on the real thing and not a description of it.
Refinement. Timing, color, and intensity get tuned against what you see.
Handoff. Source files, the demo page, and documentation, or direct integration into your site.
Tech Stack
GLSL (fragment and vertex shaders), Three.js and React Three Fiber, WebGL2, GSAP for trigger timing where an effect needs it, Shadertoy for early prototyping.
The Team
Written by our creative developer who focuses on shader work, with texture and reference direction from our 3D artist where an effect calls for it.
Contract
Scope, timeline, and payment terms are set out in a short agreement before we start writing code.
Do you offer custom packages?
Yes. If you need more than three effects, or the same shader adapted across several sections of a site, we quote it as a larger package once we know the scope.
Concepts & Revisions
The first version arrives as a live prototype rather than a flat mockup, since a shader is hard to judge as a still image. That counts as your one concept. Two rounds of revisions are included after that, for tuning look, timing, and intensity. A full change of direction is scoped as new work.
Small, sharp effects that make a site feel considered rather than templated.
