Biography
My name is Matt Liston and I’ve been creating and showing art in both the Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay areas over the past thirty years. I have predominantly worked in the fields of photography (urban landscape, architecture), ink-wash (abstraction) and graphite (realism). I have shown work in 25+ group shows in various parts of the U.S. during this time. I am predominantly self-taught with minimal exposure to formal art education. My advanced education is in psychology and philosophy which was done at California State University Long Beach. In my work I strive to convey the elegance found in both the symmetry and asymmetry of physical objects. The work tends to convey a sense of boldness and ethereality in its presentation via the juxtaposition of social, historical, scientific and spiritual imagery.
