Brand & Web Design Lead

We’re looking for a new Design Lead to join our team. A multi-disciplinary design leader who can oversee—and work on—projects from concept to delivery. Our projects involve web, print, environmental, animation, and video, with a strong focus on web. Look at our website. The person we hire will have to command the respect of, and lead, the people who made the things on our site.

We’re a core team of about 15 creatives—and growing—including designers, developers, animators, writers, and marketers that work primarily with early stage tech startups. Our clients are working on cutting-edge healthcare solutions, renewables, scientific tools, AI, security, and more.

Job Responsibilities
The Design Lead is one part kick-ass designer, one part project manager, one part art director, and one part client success rep. You can lead a diverse team of creatives to deliver results for our clients.
Do amazing design work (mostly in Figma)
Manage clients and client calls
Manage design projects—simultaneously—from the very small to the very large
Work with a variety of brands and visual styles
Art direct design assists and animators (including storyboarding)
Collaborate with marketers, developers, and other team members
Deliver projects and project components on-time
Build responsive web pages in Webflow (no-code, we have developers for the hard stuff)
Requirements
Relevant B2B design experience
At least 5-7 years overall design experience
At least two years of professional experience leading projects and teams
Excellent communication skills — online/written and verbal
Demonstrable project management skills
Experience leading the design projects for entire websites from start to finish
Strong interaction design skills with a working knowledge of both usability and accessibility
A working knowledge of print and presentation design
Proficiency with Figma and Adobe apps
Some experience with Webflow
Familiarity with HTML/CSS (you don't have to be a front-end developer—it's a design role)
Degree in a design related field or equivalent experience
A portfolio of relevant work
Nice-to-haves
If you bring extra skills to the team, that’s always a plus. So if you have strong environmental design skills, or motion graphics, or 3D skills, or videography, or copywriting, or even origami, let us know in your cover letter! Some specific nice-to-haves:
Proficiency with Webflow (the stronger the better)
Experience with WordPress and/or HubSpot CMS
Real world branding experience
B2B work examples in your portfolio
We’re headquartered in Austin, TX, but this job is fully remote. Local team members have the option to co-work every Friday.
