Art Director

Role Overview

L.A. Burdick Chocolates is seeking an Art Director to thoughtfully shape and steward the visual expression of our brand across every touchpoint. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with strong design instincts, a sharp eye for storytelling, and deep appreciation for craft and detail. You’ll bring a creative vision paired with hands-on execution. You are equally comfortable helping set the visual direction for the brand as you are designing packaging, photographing, or creating a seasonal catalog.

You’ll support all things visual - from digital marketing campaigns, emails, website design, and social content to postcards, packaging, in-store signage, and store design. Working closely with our Creative Director, you’ll help guide content strategy and visual storytelling, ensuring every asset reflects our values, aesthetic, and nearly 40-year heritage. This position is based in Boston and is fully in person.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Creative Director on creative strategy, campaign direction, and content planning

  • Design and produce marketing content across email, social, paid ads, web, catalog, postcard, and seasonal campaigns, with a strong emphasis on enhancing our social presence.

  • Create brand assets for physical touchpoints, like packaging and in-store signage

  • Coordinate with external photographers and creative partners to develop high-quality, on-brand content

  • Support product launches, promotions, and storytelling moments with clear, compelling design

  • Ensure creative work aligns with the brand’s visual identity, heritage, and values

  • Work efficiently and iteratively, balancing quick turnarounds with craftsmanship

  • Bring a thoughtful, hands-on approach to both strategy and execution

What We Are Looking For

  • 7+ years of design experience, ideally with a premium or e-commerce brand

  • Based in Boston (or willing to relocate) and available to work in-person 5 days/week

  • A commitment to growing with intention - never compromising on quality, story, or visual integrity

  • Strong portfolio across digital and print; packaging design experience is a plus

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma

  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities with care and attention to detail

  • Ability to pair strong creative vision with hands-on execution

  • Experience working with photographers and external creative partners

  • Passion for chocolate, food, or premium retail is a plus
