Job Details

UI/UX designer

【Company Overview】

At Eukarya, we develop and provide a WebGIS (Geographic Information System) platform called Re:Earth(https://reearth.io/ja)

Re:Earth is a next-generation WebGIS platform that combines high scalability with an intuitive user interface. As a browser-based tool, it includes the first-ever "browser-operable plugin system" for WebGIS. Additionally, Re:Earth is available as open-source software (OSS), allowing us to collaboratively build and expand its value with contributors and present our achievements at global conferences like FOSS4G.

【Current Status and Challenges of Eukarya and Re:Earth】

Since its launch in 2021, Re:Earth has steadily grown in demand among businesses and government institutions, securing nearly 200 million yen in orders within its first six months. This growth continues rapidly, with expanding demand and project scale.

Previously, the name "Re:Earth" referred solely to our browser-based visualization tool. However, as we advanced the Re:Earth project, we recognized the need for a comprehensive web-based GIS ecosystem to foster more open GIS and open data applications. This vision, which we now call the Re:Earth Ecosystem, envisions the addition of components such as a high-performance CMS and powerful GIS data analysis and transformation tools in a fully web-based OSS format, creating new possibilities for GIS usage.

Currently, the Re:Earth Ecosystem consists of: Re:Earth Visualizer: our main visualization tool Re:Earth CMS: for data collection, management, and distribution Re:Earth Marketplace: for publishing, searching, and downloading plugins

However, as these tools were developed prior to the Re:Earth Ecosystem concept, they currently lack a unified UI/UX design. To achieve the Re:Earth Ecosystem’s vision as a cohesive platform offering valuable experiences to users and contributors, a solid design concept with a consistent UI/UX is essential.

To further promote the development of the Re:Earth Ecosystem and facilitate meaningful collaboration with users and contributors, we are actively seeking a skilled UI/UX designer with a strong sense of intellectual curiosity.

【Appeal of the UI/UX Designer Role at Eukarya】

The new designer will play a crucial role in interdepartmental communication, collaborating across the engineering and sales teams, and participating in every phase of the project lifecycle. This position is ideal for designers who enjoy working collaboratively and are interested in advancing toward roles like project manager or design manager.

◎Cutting-edge Product Development and Design

At Eukarya, we continually adopt the latest technologies, such as WebGL rendering and performance improvements through WebAssembly. We are also planning to integrate AI into future products. While new technologies present unique challenges, we see them as opportunities for growth and innovation, creating a stimulating environment for designers with a curiosity for new technology.

◎High-impact Public Projects

Our Re:Earth platform has been selected as the foundational system for Japan's nationwide 3D urban model project, Project PLATEAU, led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism.
