Photo Voice
Everyone deserves to be heard.
Imagine living in a world where people on the street pass you by trying not to make eye contact let alone talk to you. Imagine you’ve started to believe that no one actually cares about your struggles or ideas... Now imagine that you are given the tools training and platform to have a real say, by people who look you in the eyes and tell you that your voice matters.
This project is gonna be dope!! It’ll give dignity and confidence to underserved individuals (those struggling to get by monetarily) This will be the first chance for many of them to be heard in a real, impactful way. And they will be heard, Similar projects have resulted in real tangible changes to the community. Like sidewalk repair and graffiti removal. I can’t wait to see the photos and stories that come from this project, It’s going to change Dayton in a huge way!

HOW IT WORKS: Participants will attend meetings as a group, discuss prompts and be asked to capture photos around topics like hope and joy. In the end these photos will be shown at community wide exhibits.
SHIRT: These will be given to participants to get them excited about the project and to help them feel like they are part of something important. If you have a sec let me know which layout you prefer A or B?
LOGO: I wanted to create a logo that was simple enough not to overpower the other brand elements or the project itself. The type is all custom but is made to feel a little like the font Gotham, Fairhaven’s brand font. This acts as a nod back to the “parent company” in a way of speaking. Also, I loved how the OTO and OIC were so similar, shape wise! Just getting started on this, what do you guys think so far?
CARDS: I’m pushing the “photo” concept with the black boarder, kind of a photo negative look. I was really picky about the photos I chose, they needed to be relatable to the target audience and I wanted them to feel like real people. Found these powerful images by Johan De Jager on Unsplash and really felt they fit the mood perfectly! We hope to eventually shoot similar photos of actual participants.

PS: PhotoVoice is a concept that has been used worldwide with great success, we are super excited to bring it to Dayton!
