Calendar System

Highlighting the first half of the month name made the most sense to establish a clear theme for the page, which is surrounded by a color block with an image of an album cover that I associate with that month. I turned it into a half to to create texture, and to push It further into the background. Pairing the bold sans serif type with the classic serif helps create a nice contrast in tones, and set in sort of an optical illusion format.

After I got January all set, all of the other months fell into place. Colors that I associate with the months, as well as music that I relate with the months, make the whole calendar come to life.
