Manipulation & Subversion Project

For my 3rd assignment at university, (i'm in my first year studying graphic design) I was asked to choose a brand's logo and alter it to change it's meaning. I chose to alter the logo for the popular makeup cosmetic brand "MAC".

Unfortunately, MAC Cosmetics is known to still test on animals, whereas a lot of other large brands are vegan/cruelty free.

To resemble this in my design, I turned the A upside down to form a face of an animal, added fur, and turned the C into a test tube.

I then attached my logo to a foundation bottle & painted the word "cruel" with the foundation to make it appear like it is coming out of the bottle.

I decided this was too much for my actual hand in, and that a photo of the logo design on the foundation bottle was enough. But this was one of the concepts I orignally had!
