Speakeasy Landing Page

The idea for SpeakEasy was born in 2015 traveling through (and being lost in) Japan. We found that easy tasks like finding a bath room, or ordering food become extremely challenging when there's no shared language. Machine translation solutions like Google Translate sort of work, however, for a more complex topic it just doesn't work. Our solution was creating a smartphone app that provides travelers with remote, on-demand language support from human interpreters: SpeakEasy.

Of course, you can't build a startup without creating a proper website. To keeps things simple we decided to go with a single page design in English and Mandarin Chinese. We choose to base our design on a HTML5/CSS3 template from HTML5 UP since it was faster than installing and customizing a Wordpress theme.

The website is predominantly aimed at potential users, and emulates the simplicity that guided the UI/UX design of the smartphone app. Using simple illustrations (by Marieke van der Vlies) and FontAwesome Pro icons we created a landing page that feels light, easy and complete.
