Instagram Redesign

Instagram - Less competition, more content.

Last week I have seen the daily UI challenge for a profile page. So I decided to play around with the Instagram App. (Which I have been wanting to do for a long time!)

Firstly, I wanted to introduce some hierarchy in the Profile Page. Here, best posts can get highlighted to create a higher engagement between the followers of a user.

Then, I have been reading about the Instagram's tests of changing the visibility of how many likes a post gets. I really liked this idea as people are getting more and more obsessed with likes in Instagram. I believe seeing the amount of likes a user sees is a good motivation but at the same time creates a like oriented goal. This turns social platforms into competition grounds, rather than a sharing ground.

So I decided to take it further and decided to not show any info about followers, following & posts in the first layer of the Profile Page. I think these considerations are very important for the well-being of the people that are using these platforms.
