Always question the information you're asking users to give up. Is it necessary?

One of the yearly goals for my position is to give one presentation, teach one class, or lead one workshop on design (at minimum). Yesterday I gave a presentation with my manager on UX & UI design to OIT (Office of Information Technology) student interns. They're all working on fascinating projects (like a Visitor's app featuring VR/AR tech) that will need much UX consideration.

I'd love to give a talk to a larger audience at some point, but I struggle to know what to talk about. Anyone else have this problem?
