Gestalt Principles
Gestalt principles show the existence of the perception of the mind in organising things into order. Elements arranged using the principles seem visual, but really it’s the mind doing the work. There are 6 Gestalt principles:
1) Figure/Ground - Visually differentiating a foreground and background.
2) Proximity -Grouping of elements when they are placed into groups or near each other.
3) Similarity - Grouping of elements that look similar to each other.
4) Continuity - A group of elements that guides the eye to move from one object to another in the same group.
5) Closure - Perception of something as whole even when parts of the element are missing.
6) Common Fate - Grouping elements as together when they move together.
I’ve illustrated 5 out of 6 Gestalt principles in today’s artwork! Can you tell which ones are they?
