Detecting Defect Tablets During Production 🔬

Do you know what’s funny? People that are surprised by the impact of well-applied user research methodologies!

Every once in a while, we at @UX Strategy & Design get called because digital projects don’t turn out as well as expected. Often times a vendor has been working on a project and either because of missing qualifications or budget, some things got left behind on the process.

This project was one of them: Merlin. A tool that scans multiple hundreds of tablets during the production using high-speed cameras. The UI was super confusing and contained many elements and a lot of information. After a session of user testing, we found out that the only thing people in front of the interface care about, actually is whether there is a problem or not 🤷‍♂️
