UC Davis CCLASS Branding
The Center for Chicanx and Latinx Academic Success at UC Davis or “el centro” as it is called amongst students and staff of the center, is among the new and expanding UC Davis initiatives to support the recruitment and academic success of historically underrepresented groups — African American, Chicano/Latino and Native American — and reduce the time necessary for all students to earn their degrees. Additionally, UC Davis has recently met the requirements to be eligible for Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) designation status or HSI, which opens the door to grants to help students succeed in college. As a student designer and manager for UC Davis Student Affairs Marketing and Communications (SAMC), I worked with fellow student designer, Jie Song, to develop a brand identity for the center that fit within the UC Davis brand and symbolized their commitment to the academic achievement of Chicanx and Latinx students.
