"Minimal" Calendar New Approach
As an exercise I wanted to approach Minimal Calendar as a UI experiment (even adapting to the flat aesthetic) and not the print project it clearly was taken as. What would it look like if it had a UI sensibility despite being flat?
It would not use pure black just because modernist print designers did. It would not use overly harsh dividing lines. It wouldn't repeat elements (like the year) for no apparent reason other than adding unnecessary visual variation that explicitly detracts from the usability of the interface—despite being ostensibly "minimalist." It wouldn't abbreviate text as a graphic element. It wouldn't use far too-tight kerning. It wouldn't be afraid of having an interface element like a button. And lastly, it wouldn't be afraid of having some semblance of information density.
