Facebook PRIDE 2018
This year the team at Facebook Analog Research Lab commissioned a series of posters to celebrate Pride, six individual prints each spell out a single letter or number “P”, “R”, “I”, “D”, “E” and “18”. They partnered with In-House International, who then invited me to collaborate in this big project with another 6 talented designers part of the LGBTQ+ community
My choice was the letter R, which was placed in the 60's reason why I decided to represent the Stonewall Riots, an historic event that occurred in 1969 in New York, which marked the beginning of the power and resistance by the LGBTIQ + community against police repression. To convey the aesthetics of the time, I was inspired by the posters of psychedelic rock bands like Grateful Dead and Jeffersons Airplane, works done for great artists such as Wes Wilson and Victor Moscoso, among others. I studied the typographical forms of psychedelia and its deformations, but always looking to sacrifice the least possible in legibility in order to obtain a design that works for the current era.
