Risk - Skateboard

Taking creative risks is important for your growth as an artist. Jumping into the unknown can produce new styles, alternative avenues of work, help you find your voice and stand out from the crowd. But we sometimes choose to not do this because we are in a place of comfort, getting too familiar with the tools we use and scared that what we produce will not be liked. Have faith in yourself and who you are. Even though you'll get some bumps and bruises along the way, you'll be glad you took the risks.

This hand-painted skateboard tool me around 12 hours to produce. Probably because I'm a newbie to sign painting. I used James Lewis' new font VERSA, which is a 13 layer typeface that produces this 3D type just by selecting the different styles. I put it together in InDesign, printed it off, used transfer paper, then got to work painting it using A.S.Handover enamel paints and brushes. I'm wearing a mask because this stuff stinks! Love the finish it produces just with one coat of paint.
