Mountain Bike

This project was created so I could develop my modelling and texturing skills, by creating something very detailed and yet look quite realistic.
I decided to model a Mountain bike as there are many challenges for modelling. For example the bike frame was quite difficult to model, due to the intersecting joints at the various angles. This took several attempts to get looking right. Other components like the front and rear derailleurs were also quite tricky too model due to the multiple components that make each derailleur.
I used wide range of reference photos, blueprints and in some cases C.A.D data to understand how each component looked and fitted together, then modelled each component from scratch. Some components I had to improvise as there weren’t sufficient reference materials to create a realistic model from. The mountain bike was also best suited for texturing and UV skills due to the complex shapes and decals needed to make the bike look realistic and detailed.
In this project I feel I have learnt how to create complex shapes, UV maps and textures that make this model look highly detailed and realistic.
