PROJECT BRIEF

Smithsonian Folkways recently acquired Arhoolie Records’ collection of North American regional music. This commemorative LP celebrates the Norteno, Conjunto and Tejano music originating from the southern states bordering Mexico.

CONCEPT

This LP establishes a relationship between the music with the spirit and domestic rituals of the people. An uneducated illustration style was created to portray the everyday lifestyle of those people of this region and mostly what their music is about.
