Spaced Configurator (WIP)

Advanced travel needs an advanced trip planner!

My concept is situated in the year 3018 where we’ll be able to go to different planets in different solar systems!

I’m very into space and I got my inspiration for this from movies and games (elite dangerous, oblivion, interstellar, …). I always wanted to create a futuristic UI like this because I’m a big fan of Territory (known for the interfaces you see in Iron Man, Bladerunner, …) and Gmunk (they did all the interfaces for Oblivion).

I watched the feedback video @Dann Petty made and it got me thinking. When we look at the business side of space travel there are a couple of things we need to keep in mind. First of all, what about the distance between the planets? It’s constantly changing. Earth takes 1 year to go around the sun, while Mars takes 1.9 years to go around the sun. This will have a heavy impact on the amount of fuel that is being used which will have impact on the price. This is something very important for the user, because they want to pay as less as possible. Also, in space travel you can use the gravitational pull from another planet. This will act as a slingshot which will get you faster to your destination without burning a lot of fuel.

(The yellow dotted line shows you when mars and earth will be alligned. This is still not realistic but it will be fixed in my final version!)

So the concept is a interactive configurator which let’s you explore the universe and check out planets (or systems) you would like to visit.

I’m also adding a lot of fun stuff. In the future there could be activities like space safari! You can also explore the universe in the comfort of your home by using a VR headset. You could tune in what people, drones or robots are seeing in real time.

I made our solar system so it could fit on a screen, so it’s not 100% realistic.

I had a blast making this so far and I’m excited to finish this. I hope I can finish this in time and even animate it.
