For Fjola
Humbled and honored to have been commissioned by my good friend Harmon Li for this tattoo piece. Harmon initially approached me about making a large tattoo that would honor his daughter Fjola, as well as his wife Jen (shown in the initials). Inside the line-work I tried to capture the idea of family, blood, time, and an infinite bond. This finalized direction was built to correlate with Harmon's original idea provided-
"The past few years have been full of ups and downs, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have our one and only, Fjola. This tattoo is to celebrate our little one whose birth falls in the year of the snake within the Chinese zodiac. She has forever changed our lives and irrevocably broadened what we perceive of beauty and love."
This illustration took about three rounds of exploration which can be seen in the attachment. Thanks to steady-handed tattoo legend Zach Nelligan of Mainstay Tattoo for inking this piece, as well as Leah Muse for the photo.
