This Day In History - May 22, 1980

Pac-Man is released by Namco in Japan. Personal Note: I remember that the pizza place in town growing up had one of the old Pac-Man machines that looked like a small table. Two people could sit on either side to play the game. The top was covered in semi-translucent black glass and you had to put your hands under the glass to reach the joystick. Pretty cool. It's what I think of when I think of Pac-Man.
