Like Father, Like Son

This project was particularly important to me.

The original logo was designed by Ohio illustrator and designer Jim Gordon in the early 70s for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources' Division of Natural Areas and Preserves.

My dad worked there for almost 30 years as a naturalist and I saw this logo from infancy. It's what inspired me to become a designer so many years later. It has since been updated to something horrible (attached, second photo) and no accurate digital version of this beautiful logo existed.

In order to fix this, my wife and I went hiking at a nature preserve where there was an original version of this logo on an old info board (attached, first photo). I snapped a picture and redrew it perfectly. It took awhile but it felt so good.

My dad and I aren't too different. We both love to preserve beautiful things. Thanks dad for instilling in me a deep love for beauty, wonder, and hard work.
