Al-Ka'bah Branding Exercise

Had a few hours for my self so I decided to brand the Ka'bah which is a holy site for Muslims.

Sketching Process

The Ka'bah is a cube where millions of Muslims attend for worship everyday.

The geometric structure on how it looks for its purpose of continuity. From a birds eye point of view its a square with a circle ring around it which modern day design has been using for print, branding and other designs (check out Google Material Design icon). Three corners have a symbolic reference to lands in the Middle East which are, s the Ruknu l-ˤĪrāqī, "the Iraqi corner", its western as the Ruknu sh-Shāmī, "the Levantine corner", and its southern as Ruknu l-Yamanī, "the Yemeni corner".

The little square represents the Ka'bah itself, the circle represents the worshippers surrounded the structure and the outer square represents the construct around the whole area.
