Twitter - Write a Tweet
Another update on the Break the Experience series, that focuses on changing popular interaction patterns, used on an everyday basis by a global audience.
Twitter's mission is to give everyone the power to create and share ideas and information instantly, without barriers. However, its most integral action for this vision is simply communicated with an icon in the navigation bar of the iOS app, lacking prominence as well as ease-of-use. It's an action that is hard to reach especially with modern, large devices, hard to spot for new users, and definitely lacking the visual importance it should be getting as the main driving force of the company's growth.
I avoided redesigning the whole experience, as there is a reason users like it and it's often reckless to try rethink everything from scratch. I only made some subtle updates, swapping the Tweet and message functions, as I feel the latter is far less important from a user's perspective. I also reinforced exploration in the homepage by adding a bar with trending tweets, which could be a nice addition especially for new users that haven't found out who and what they want to follow, and might easily miss the explore tab especially if they don't find the app engaging.
