The stolen M - 36daysoftype

My original idea for today was quite different than the letter I'm showing. It eventually became a representation of a personal letter. Women's day is in a few days and in Portuguese, woman is written as Mulher. Mom is written as Mãe. And this letter I draw is how my mom writes her letter M.

I have always been picky with the letters R and M because they were my initials. I remember the first time I saw the way my mom wrote her M and I said to myself: "I have to learn and use it because it feels unique in a many ways, at least to me"

That's the story of how I "stole" my mother's M and added it to my own personal hand drawn typeface. Since it was all about my mom's M, I also let her choose the color by opening a box of colored pencils and letting her pick her preferred one.
