2017: Words
For me, a lot of 2017 is going to be about words—reading more, writing more, being mindful of the things I say, setting, writing, and visualizing big goals, proactively keeping a backlog of to-dos, holding daily standups for myself, documenting the things that make me tick, a higher focus on documenting my daily work for my teammates and stakeholders, learning more about functional programming, being more aware of where the words I consume come from, and lastly, holding the people around me accountable for the things they write or say so that we can grow together.
I found a similar image, etched into stone, and this day/month/year treatment while exploring through a cemetery near one of Prague’s castles. They must have been from the 17th or 18th century. Both elements were so captivating that I had to take out my sketchbook and jot them down, and I finally got around to re-creating what I remember of them.
Reflecting on my goals for this year, I remembered back to this stack of books and elegant flower—It’s a fitting image for one area of my life that I want to improve on in 2017.
