Tracking and Rotoscoping
Sort of an older shot, but I found it recently while combing through some old hard drives. Figured I would upload something that wasn't completely motion graphics-y for a change. It was from a project about a charity supported by Dollar General.
In the piece there was this exterior shot of this mother and child exiting the store, but there were these bright yellow concrete poles and barriers that were sort of distracting. So...
* I tracked the ground and the side of the store in Mocha AE. Since the camera angle was changing slightly, it really was the best tool for the job
* Made clean plates in Photoshop, removing the yellow barrier and poles
* Used the Mocha tracks to move around the plates in After Effects
* Reconstructed the sliding doors and animated them in AE
* Rotoscoped the mother and daughter, using a little of Mocha AE and the Rotobrush tool in After Effects
* Combined all of that together and hit render
I still kind of like the shot; it was kind of fun to piece it together. Wish I didn't have to compress it so much in order to GIF-ize it and upload to Dribbble... but what can you do? :)
