Type Design

This is a little side project I've been doing for a while. I've been creating my own geometric sans serif font. I still have to finish up c, k, r, s, x, y & z. I'm learning a lot about optical balance and "feeling" my way through a form. Tobias Frere-Jones' blog posts have been a saving grace. Especially these two on type mechanics:

I'm making these in Illustrator to go through the basic process of designing type. If I keep it up I'll move over to Robofont or Glyphs.

I've been wanting to do type design program at Type @ Cooper West (http://coopertype.org/west). Maybe next year? Still a fun process to think intimately about each letterform.
