Red Sox Scores: August 24, 2016

After holding a one run lead for most of the game, the Red Sox let Wednesday night’s contest slip through their fingers in extra innings. Pitcher Heath Hembree dropped a toss from Travis Shaw as he was covering first base, then threw home to get the runner out at the plate, forcing catcher Sandy León to bobble the ball as well — which allowed the winning run to score. In the loss, David Ortiz made history by becoming the oldest player to hit 30 home runs in a season.
