Colors in Flight

Being inspired by the multiple layers found in artwork created by cut paper, I decided to design each of my birds to mimic this art form. I wanted to try and mimic the shapes I would create if I were to cut these out of paper myself. Each piece of the bird is a solid colored shape and it layered on top of one another. I simplified the shapes of the feathers so that they would flow well together, and created interesting movement. Once the icons were finished, I decided to take the project one step further and create a fun informational book on these beautiful, and sometimes rare birds.
