Key visual for Slush 2012

A big visual identity facelift for a startup conference Slush in 2012. The event is held in November in Helsinki, Finland. It's traditionally a season of darkness and extremely unpleasant weather. We wanted to avoid the traditional tourism-style Finnish look and feel of that season by refusing to use snow or slush photography.

The identity was built on top of three things:
1. We're born in the dark and cold so we decided to embrace the darkness and coldness and make that feeling more prominent. This is still one of the guiding principles in Slush's identity and a lot of black color and dimmed lightning is used in the events.
2. We've all seen those basic photographs taken in conferences, so we decided to bring in a bit more unique style and crafted hand-drawn versions of keynote speakers in the event e.g. Eric Wahlforss, Sami Inkinen and Kristian Segerstrale.
3. We tied these together and created a unique dark movie-style look & feel.

This was a great project and was made in cooperation with a production agency Brink Helsinki. Thanks guys!
