Pride Month: Gladys Bentley

Pride Month Gif-Series of Notable Queer Folk in History.

Gladys Bentley was a famous jazz and blues performer of the Harlem Renaissance. A prominent lesbian and cross-dressing singer, she performed at notorious queer speakeasies such as Harry's Clam House with a chorus in full drag. Her deep, sensual voice and open flirtations with women in the audience made her quite the popular act.
