Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery

The Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery. 535 Tchoupitoulas Street, New Orleans, Louisiana. Built in 1854.

This bustling hotel & chandlery (general store) was originally built in 1854 as a warehouse for the Port of New Orleans. During the many years that it has stood, 77 Tchoupitoulas Street (the original address before New Orleans standardized street numbers) has served as a coffee warehouse, and a chandlery owned by E.J. Hart & Company that sold a wide range of goods for sailing ships.
The hotel, owned by Provenance Hotels, aims to stay true to its history by selling goods by local makers as well as showcasing the artwork of NOCCA (New Orleans Center for Creative Arts) students.
