Blog List Title Card
An example of a blog card image treatment for my company’s rebrand and site redesign.
Since all of our company’s websites will have multiple authors, we (the designers) have almost no control over the content or source of the images, so I developed a color treatment using a family of green and blue gradient maps that unifies our visuals while branding our images. More examples and animated transitions to come soon…ish.
Also: I remember trying to use gradients early in my career and was always shot down by my AD/CD for what I consider to be irrational, personal biases against gradients. In architecture school I spent a lot of time exploring how light interacts with materials and space, so I’ve generally found flat colors synthetic and unnatural. I’ve come to embrace the strategic simplicity of flat colors, particularly for digital media, but I’ll always have love for gradients. I’m glad they’re “in” right now, but for me they always have been and they always will be.
