Refugee Midwifery Service

Pro-bono symbol proposal for a free midwifery service in Austria to help refugees of the Syrian conflict get care and advice during this very stressful and disorientating time of their lives. The symbol should be as friendly, sympathetic and approachable as possible to encourage pregnant women and their husbands to make use of the service. The red crescent is the equivalent to the red cross in the origin countries of the refugees where religion plays an important part in the process of birth hence the decision to combine the image of the crescent (widely associated with Islam) cradling a child.
