Smarter Payroll: UX for Configurable Salary Rules

How do you design salary calculation settings flexible enough for 200+ unique payroll formulas—but simple enough for a new hire to use?

🔍 The challenge: Coople’s payroll team was losing 40+ hours per cycle fixing payslip errors from rigid, hard-coded rules. Frequent legal changes and custom client agreements made it unsustainable.

🎯 The goal: Design an interface for accountants to build, test, and manage complex payroll rules—no dev tickets needed.
