User Persona & Journey Mapping
Project Overview
This UX deliverable showcases my approach to developing user personas and journey maps for early-career professionals—in this case, newly graduated Registered Nurses exploring travel-based job opportunities. The goal of this exercise was to bring clarity to user motivations, expectations, and friction points to help guide product design decisions with empathy and intention.
My Process
I started by synthesizing qualitative insights from user interviews and survey responses to craft a detailed persona that reflects the goals and behaviors of a first time travel nurse. From there, I mapped out the full candidate journey from initial awareness through long term engagement to identify opportunities to improve user experience at each touchpoint.
Design Highlights
Persona Development: "Sophie" represents a young, driven, tech-comfortable nurse seeking career growth, new experiences, and job transparency. Her frustrations helped surface gaps in product trust, clarity, and recruiter interaction.
Journey Mapping: Visualizing Sophie’s path allowed me to pinpoint where UX and service design could better support users such as simplifying tech onboarding, offering clearer job descriptions, and maintaining consistent follow up post hire.
Strategic Focus: This artifact supports not just UI decisions but informs broader service flows, helping align design, marketing, and customer experience teams around the needs of real users.
Takeaways
This project highlights my ability to translate user research into visual storytelling that drives product clarity and team alignment. Whether in healthcare, staffing, or beyond; this method ensures that design decisions stay grounded in genuine user needs.
