This is the opening screen of a promo website for an animated short film.
The film explores the themes of burnout, social pressure, and identity loss in the age of “always more.”
In this screen, I wanted to capture a quiet, heavy moment — the feeling of giving up.
Each visual scene in the scroll tells a piece of that emotional journey:
The visual metaphor of preloader is a distant figure slowly sinking in deep water, representing how many of us feel when we lose touch with our own desires, chasing goals set by others.
The person wears a white shirt and black trousers — corporate, clean, emotionless.
The man with a red cube on his head
This scene symbolizes the feeling of being boxed in — the pressure to “fit the mold,” to conform. The red color represents intensity, warning, and a forced identity that doesn’t belong to the person wearing it. He stands alone, frozen, disconnected. The cube restricts expression, thought, and individuality — a metaphor for how social norms can become mental cages.
The mirror scene with the silenced reflection
This visual illustrates the inner conflict: the character looks at his reflection, but it can't speak. A taped mouth suggests emotional suppression and the inability to voice one’s own truth. It speaks to those moments when we know something is wrong but feel powerless to act or even admit it — even to ourselves. The clean composition create an unsettling intimacy, making the viewer question how often they've felt the same.
