Chaparral – Typographic Study & Editorial Design

I created this editorial project as a research-based typographic study on Carol Twombly’s serif typeface, Chaparral, and her influential career as one of the few women in type design at Adobe. I focused on analyzing the letterforms in depth and exploring what makes Chaparral a hybrid humanist slab-serif.

Alongside the final layout, I documented process work to visually explore form, structure, and typographic voice. The project blends historical research with formal analysis to highlight Twombly’s impact and Chaparral’s design significance in contemporary typography.

Tools Used: InDesign, Illustrator, archival research

Focus: Type anatomy, editorial systems, visual hierarchy, historical narrative
