The Minor Fall - book cover design and illustration

My first book cover! It's for a debut novel of a small indie author and I couldn't be more pleased with the end result. And it's live now, and you can support a small author or grab it for free on Kindle unlimited.

The genre is fantasy with a scifi twist, and the main style vibe for the cover was magical, romantic, and mysterious. I went with a strong contrasting layout and a purple-yellow complimentary theme and I think I nailed the brief.

The author wanted a textured style for the illustration and I went all in with pencil and pastel like brushes on Procreate. I think only the illustration was more than 7-8 hours of work which is unusual for me as I work pretty fast on there, but this one required both a lot of planning and a lot of details so it needed the time.

The extra details on the typography and the back were also very time consuming but I think it was worth it as now the whole piece looks cohesive, beautiful and functional. Also the back has a little surprise illustration as well!
