Before the name Melaka was known to the world, a small creature stood its ground.

Meet Keco, a pelanduk with a mind sharper than a keris. When the royal hunting dogs came charging, he didn’t flee—he fought back, forcing even the fiercest to retreat.

Impressed by the courage of this tiny guardian, a prince resting under a Melaka tree declared:

"This land shall be called Melaka."

Keco isn’t just a character, he’s a symbol of wit, courage, and origin.

As part of the Rimba Rakyat Friends, each character I design celebrates the soul of a Malaysian state — and Keco proudly represents Negeri Melaka, Malaysia.
