Tatsu Ramen’s Neo-Brutalist Mobile homepage

Concept: Neo-Brutalism for Restaurant UX

Task: Redesign the mobile homepage for Tatsu Ramen — a cult-favorite ramen house known for its bold flavors, authentic broth, and unapologetic attitude. The mission? Capture the raw energy of the brand through a brutalist lens, starting with the hero section.

Problem: The original site had strong brand presence but played it safe visually on mobile. It lacked that punch-you-in-the-face vibe you feel when stepping into a Tatsu location. The hero didn’t hook users or convey the experience.

Solution: We rebuilt the mobile hero section with a neo-brutalist approach — raw layout, loud type, and zero fluff. Here's how we brought the vibe to life:

– Full-bleed ramen shot to hit users with flavor at first glance – Oversized, aggressive typography that speaks like the brand does – Minimal copy, max impact — no filler, just soul – Clean but chunky CTA for immediate action (menu or location) – Purposeful spacing and contrast to keep it scroll-worthy and unignorable

The result: A bold entry point into the Tatsu experience that feels more like street ramen culture than corporate homepage.
