Optimizing for a frictionless mobile experience.
In August 2023, in anticipation of pushing the app to the app store we conducted an observational UX research study aimed at gaining insights into our target audience's interactions with the finalized Cosmic Walk app as participants discovered facts about the Solar System
My Role
I was tasked with taking an MVP web app experience and designing a prototype to be tested with participants who were industry experts.
We ran a design sprint to implement the research findings and publicly release a new version of the app for iOS.
Introducing Cosmic Walk
The app transforms unimaginable timescales and distances into enjoyable long walks. For instance, the 4.5 billion kilometers between the Sun and Neptune are now within reach of your steps. As you walk along, you'll receive audio notifications for each planet you encounter.
The app aims to provide a profound sense of our smallness. For example, if you scale the distance between the Sun and Neptune to just a 1 km walk, Earth measures a mere 2.9 mm!
With a variety of walks available, you can explore the history of life on Earth or venture to the depths of the ocean. Let's embark on an incredible cosmic journey together! 🚀
