Altos Chair
Inspired by the Latin word "altus" meaning "high" or "elevated, designed with a raised seat.
Problem I aim to design the simplest chair that does not compromise comfort and style. My focus is on minimizing its environmental footprint by using the least number of materials possible, ensuring they are high-quality and eco-friendly. Most famous chairs are either made from non-degradable plastics, which have a significant environmental impact, or from metal elements that require a lot of hardware, which wears out over time due to friction or pressure.
Design Process The geometry of the Altos Chair is optimized for Ergonomic comfort. The curvature of the seat the backrest is designed to support natural body contours, providing a comfortable seating experience without the need for additional cushioning. Additionally, the chair's elevated design offers a modern aesthetic that fits seamlessly into various settings, from contemporary interiors to stylish outdoor spaces.
Assembly What sets the Altos Chair apart is its innovative assembly process. It uses no hardware like screws or bolts. Instead, the form clips together seamlessly, requiring fewer materials and ensuring a secure, stable structure. Using the natural force of gravity.
