Balance Stomper - Walking Balance Training Game

Balance Stompers is an innovative balance training game project designed for children with cerebral palsy, commissioned by client Adelante. It aims to enhance children's walking balance through an engaging and educational approach. The project addresses the shortcomings of existing games in walking training by incorporating fun content to guide children in exercising muscles and joints needed for walking, gradually improving dynamic balance. The game introduces three progressive training modes: “Rise” (light leg-lifting mode), “Stride” (stable stepping mode), and “Twist” (twisting mode). The “Rise” and “Stride” modes have undergone initial validation and are ready for further testing and refinement in training. Two themes, “Squasher (Bug Stomping)” and “Fairy Concert,” were designed to cater to different children’s interests.Balance Stompers employs the Reflective Transformative Design Process (RTDP), receiving positive expert feedback and valuable suggestions for further prototype development. Keywords: Cerebral Palsy Rehabilitation, Health and inclusive Design, Walking Rehabilitation, Edutainment, Serious Game Design
