Brand Design — Darrah & Darrah Autobody

Darrah & Darrah Autobody contacted me about doing an apparel design. The style they wanted was not something that I generally do, so how could I say no? I love a challenge!

In developing the apparel design and sharing the ideas, we quickly realized that we didn't just have a shirt design, but we also had the makings of a killer brand design!

So that's what we did! I pulled the various elements out of the design to construct a vintage auto brand that Darrah & Darrah could use on everything from business cards to coasters.

The letter style font became the primary logo. Simple and clean.

From there, I used the font Oswald to create a secondary logo. Since "Darrah & Darrah" is pretty wide, I chose to use the initials and an ampersand. I placed that on the checkered pattern.

The other elements of the shirt design were pulled out to be used separately. The clean, simple look of the logo makes it easier to use the brand graphics on various collateral.

And of course, we put it on shirts and hoodies as originally planned.

All in all, this project forced me out of my comfort zone artistically, but it turned out to be one of my recent favorites. The client was excited and looking slick!
