Borobudur Park - Landing Page 🛕
Redesigning the Website for the World’s Largest Buddhist Temple (2023) ✨
As a cornerstone of Indonesian tourism, Borobudur Temple draws visitors from across the globe and within the country alike. Built in the 8th century during the Syailendra Dynasty, this magnificent temple stands in Magelang, Central Java—my hometown. The surrounding area once served as the heart of the ancient Mataram Kingdom until a catastrophic eruption of Mount Merapi buried the region, forcing the kingdom’s center to shift to East Java. Centuries later, Dutch archaeologists rediscovered the temple, leading to extensive excavation and restoration efforts to return it to its original glory.
Inspired by the grandeur of this Buddhist masterpiece, I reimagined the Borobudur Park website, encompassing Borobudur Temple, Prambanan Temple, and Ratu Boko. My design approach is distinctive: a color scheme echoing the temple’s stone textures—black and gray—paired with a harmonious blend of serif and sans-serif fonts for a modern yet timeless feel.
One of the interesting aspects of this website design is the header section. It features an event schedule, and when hovered over, the information card displays a 'Details' button while concealing the featured image used in the event details.
